Monday Made It!- Games, Stamps, Volunteers, and INSTAGRAM!

I am linking up again with Fourth Grade Frolics for another Monday Made It! Here are a few of the things I have been working on lately!  I realized as I was finishing up this post that most of my Monday Made Its this week aren't really made, but things I've done, designed, etc.  So, now crafts this week, just some random projects!  Have a look:

One of the teachers I worked with at my old school became our literacy facilitator during my last year there. She was very creative and instead of making new games, she took old games and reused them so that they became educational.  When I was visiting NC last, she gave me a few games of Old Maid.  So, I took these games and wrote homophones that we use during our Orton Gillingham Fundations lessons.  The kids can play Old Maid, but instead of asking for some silly character, they can ask for and spell or give the meaning of the missing homophone that they need!

My next Monday Made It, isn't something I necessarily MADE, but really designed.  I saw a stamp on Groupon recently.  It was an address stamp, but I designed it to fit my classroom needs.  I often found that I sign letters home to parents with my name and email in case they need to contact me and have for some reason forgotten or misplaced my email, etc.  So, when I saw these, I grabbed one.  The best part was it was super cheap.  I have something similar for the books in my classroom library and I loved that, so I figured this would be a good purchase.  I was able to choose the layout, design, etc.

On one of the last few days of school, I was chatting with a parent and she has another upcoming third grader. We were talking about parent volunteers. This being my first year in third grade and at this school/district, I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to use my parent volunteers.  I had a few parents who came in and made copies and that was it.   Our school does an amazing job of organizing classroom room parents and parties for us. At the beginning of the year, parents sign up for a job (if they want to) at each classroom party.  Then the room parent reminds them prior to the party.  It works great!  So, she suggested doing the SAME thing for my volunteers.  Set it up that first time I meet the parents and then I'm set.  So I created this volunteer information and sign-up sheet.  You can grab a copy as a sample or you can use it if it works with your classroom!  I have four different positions that I am looking to help us out this year.  Click on the picture to grab a free copy.

This is my last Monday Made It, but not my least!  I FINALLY created an Instagram account for my blog.  I had one years ago when it first came out, added about 10 pictures, and never opened it again!!! So, I changed my user name over to my blog name @misskingsenchantedkingdom and woo hoo, I am up and running.  I am really doing this mostly for the awesome BLOG HOPPIN Scavenger Hunt.  If you have not heard of the scavenger hunt, you need to.  It looks like a blast.  Click HERE to read more about it.
Then head over to my Instagram page and make sure to follow me.  Hopefully, I will keep this up and running during the school year, too! I haven't figured out how to change the profile picture yet, but I will!  Click on the picture to go there now!!

  5. Firstly,
Love the homophone game idea. I just literally started a homophone unit with my kiddos today and this is perfect to reinforce vocab and spelling.
I have also just got into my Instagram account mainly due to the Blog Hoppin Scavenger hunt.
What a great idea for the stamp.
